
Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited a joint venture of TATA and DOCOMO India which finally announced that its launch will be now available in Karnataka after Tamilnadu and reported said that it will invest USD 2 billion for rolling out the services across the country.
The company has now earmarked an investment of huge USD 2 billion on its pan-India GSM network roll-out, to be completed this year, including USD 150 million in Karnataka itself Tata Teleservices Ltd Managing Director Anil Sardana said in Bangalore.
Tata Docomo has already launched services in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Orissa and the entire south India is set to go "live" next week, he said. The company's GSM service offers "pay-for-what-you-use" model, with a pulse of one second, and a pricing of one paise per second which is the main reason that all people are so exicited.
Subscribers of tata docomo can call anywhere in India for just one paise per second, that is 60 paisa per second this GSM service covers 427 towns and 2,642 villages, including in areas of railway lines and highways, Sardana said.
'NTT Docomo has provided technical inputs to make Tata Docomo GSM network world class,' said Toshinari Kunieda, senior vice-president and managing director of the japanese firm's global business division, in a video message.
Sardana said the company also reported that they will launch and planning operations in all the 612 towns and 1,149 villages in Andhra Pradesh itself.
Tata Teleservices, with 36 million subscribers as May 31, got the GSM license for 19 circles and spectrum in 18 circles.
